Automobile and Electronic Wiring Harness Tooling Board
The tooling board is built to make sure the wire harness is assembled in an open, clear and consistent environment. Operators don't need any other instruction or paperwork to guide the assembly work.
On the tooling board, fixtures and sockets are previously designed and placed. Certain information is also previously printed on the board.
With the information, certain quality related issues are defined and guaranteed. For instance, the dimension of wire harness, the size of cable, position of cable ties and method to apply the cable tie, position of wrapping or tubing and method of wrapping or tubing. In this way, the quality of wires and assembly is well controlled. The cost of production is well controlled too.
1. The maker's part number and customer's part number. Operators are able to confirm they are making the correct parts.
2. BoM. Bill of material going to be used on this part. The bill has stated every component to be used which are/not limited to type of cables and wires, specification of cables and wires, type and spec of connectors, type and spec of cable ties, type and spec of adhesive wraps, in some cases type and spec of indicators. Also quantity of every part is stated clearly for the operators to recheck before assembly job begins.
3. Work instructions or SOPs. By reading the instructions on the tooling board, operators may not need a specific training to do the assembly job.
The tooling board can be upgraded to conducting board by adding a test function on top of all the assembly functions.
Within the product category of tooling board, there is a sliding preassembly line. This preassembly line divides the whole operation into several separate steps. The boards on the line are recognized as preassembly boards.
